The Kantha Bopha Children's Hospital

October is considered Charity Month here in Cambodia so the entire school chose to raise money for the Kantha Bopha Children's Hospital.  This Hospital provides free child care to all families.  They see over 2,000 patients a day that come to the city from all over the country just to seek medical attention.  Our goal was to raise 5, 000 dollars between our two schools and we managed to exceed our own expectations and raise 6, 517!!!  I was so proud of my students as they learnt the importance of empathy and caring for others.  They together worked so hard to raise almost 2,000 dollars making our class the top fundraising class out of 10 classrooms!

We documented our efforts by adding leaves to a tree, each leaf was worth 10 dollars and each classroom has a different colour of leaf.  Ours was orange, grade 2 was yellow, kindergarten 1 was red, and kindergarten 2 was green (only 4 classroom at my campus).

I was very fortunate to be able to accompany our Director Mr. Virak to the Kantha Bopha Hospital to present the Cheque to the Founder.

The line up of families seeking help outside

They are given coloured tickets once they arrive, they then have to wait hours to be seen

Many families are waiting

Meeting the Founder, a Frenchman Beat Richner

Such a wonderful and eye opening experience!
