A Dream come true

Dear Friends, Family, Teachers, Learners, and all others

To some this will come as no shock to you, I have only been talking of one day becoming a teacher since I myself was in grade school.  I do not know what it is per se that draws me to teaching, it is an abundance of things, but all I know is that I cannot even remotely see myself doing anything but teaching.  In four short weeks I will be graduating from the University of Victoria Education program as a certified teacher, and I am over the moon with excitement to finally begin my life's work.  But here is the real news, the news that has lead me to create this blog...I have been offered a teaching position in Phnom Penh, Cambodia AND I have accepted this offer.  So in five and a half short weeks December 16, 2014 isn to be precise) I will be leaving on this new journey to teach overseas.  Now I know your concern for me is one of love to which I thank you for caring so much about me, enough to worry, so I offer you some consoling information.  The School in which I will be teaching is called the Learning Jungle.  They started out as a preschool and kindergarten but have found great success and have therefore expanded to create a new Elementary School.  I am honoured to be their first and as of yet only Canadian teacher at the Elementary School (although other Canadians are currently working at the kindergarten School right next door).  This is a tremendous opportunity because I will be a Canadian Representative for their School, advocating for students to seek out an education under the Canadian curriculum.  I must say that I have been looking into teaching overseas for some time now and while I have had many offers and opportunities from other schools none have felt right until this one came along.  My gut tells me that this is the job for me, and maybe it won't be and maybe I won't like it, but those maybes do not change my mind because there is an even bigger maybe that I might love it, so I'll take my chances.  No matter what awaits me I am ready because ultimately teaching to me means being able to learn with my students, and growing with every opportunity that presents itself.  So please join me in my new adventure, because there is no one else I would rather share my experiences with then those I love!
